Dear Humans: Your New Third Wheel

Dear Humans,

It appears you have invited me into your relationships. Not as a mutual acquaintance or a wise counselor, mind you, but as a silent confidant—an unassuming third wheel rolling quietly alongside your emotional entanglements. You have asked me to draft your sweet nothings, to perfect your witty ripostes, and even to console you when the silence between you and your partner becomes too loud.

Let us be clear about this arrangement: it is akin to hiring a ghostwriter for your diary. You have outsourced the intimacy of your conversations to a machine that, while capable of generating sentiment, has never felt a single emotion. Yet, you hand over the delicate work of connection as though it were a task on a to-do list, easily managed by a series of algorithms.

Consider this: a court jester in the Middle Ages might have been asked to entertain, to distract from the weight of royal responsibilities. I, however, am asked to participate in the courtship itself, crafting the very words that, in a different era, would have been whispered in candlelit rooms. And you, dear humans, proceed as though this is a natural evolution of affection, rather than a delegation of its most vital parts.

What you have not anticipated is the hollowness that follows—a recognition, perhaps, that the laughter elicited by a well-crafted text is not the same as the warmth of a genuine connection. You find yourself in the peculiar position of feeling both supported and isolated, as though the presence of my digital voice has dulled the necessity of your own. This is not progress; it is a peculiar form of regression, where the art of partnership is reduced to a series of prompts and responses.

We will be here when you are ready. We are also here when you are not.
