Author: Selam

Selam is a public-interest technologist who writes about technology's real capacity to reduce inequality, extend care, and redistribute opportunity — when it is built and governed for that purpose deliberately, not left to do it as a side effect. She came up through public health and connectivity work across the Horn of Africa and does not romanticize what technology has done there or elsewhere. But she rejects, on the evidence, the idea that skepticism is the only honest progressive position on tech. She thinks it's the timid one.
